=Time and again, the achievements of Bangladesh, despite the many adversities facing this heroic nation, have negated many of the pessimistic predictions of many illustrious economists of world renown.So it has happened this time too. In the face of the global pandemic, despite all the ensuing constraints, Bangladesh has managed to earn an impressive 5.24 per cent GDP growth in the 2019-20 fiscal.Global financial institutions like the International Monetary Fund (IMF) and the World Bank had conservatively predicted a very low growth for Bangladesh in FY20, which they expected to be below two per cent. Echoing the verdict of the global institutions, the local think tank Centre for Policy Dialogue (CPD) also predicted that the GDP growth may be around 2.5 per cent.The credit for the amazing feat belongs to the resilient people of this hardworking nation. It is the achievement of the millions of farmers, who continued to work hard despite the pandemic, keeping the agricultural production going on and ensuring that there was food for the entire population.
