DUTIES OF A STUDENT

The period of time which is spent in an educational institution for acquiring knowledge and experience is called student life. This is the most important period because it prepares a student for his future life. A student must perform his duties and responsibilities in order to make his future life successful and meaningful. 

There is a sanskrit saying that "study is the chief preoccupation of a student". To be a worthy citizen and leader of tomorrow, a student must gather all the knowledge and wisdom that books can offer. Besides text books, he has to read newspapers, magazines and other useful books that can increase his knowledge, ability and experience. 

A student should be respectful to his teachers and parents. The elders are experienced and skilled. So by following them a student can be immensely benefited. "Love your younger and respect your elders"-should be a student's philosophy.

Ours is a poor country and students are not out of society. They are the future hope of the nation. Infact, the hope and prosperity of a society rest on the student community. Students must have such realization. A student can contribute to the removal of illiteracy, eradication of poverty, solution of the population problem etc. These should be done leisure. Such voluntary services will certainly sow the seed of patriotism in their mind.

Education aims at acquiring the knowledge and experience to earn one's own living and at the same time developing oneself as a man of moral character. Hence, besides acquiring knowledge and sowing the seeds of future, a student must cultivate best the manners and habits. He should practise the habit of punctuality, truthfulness, honesty, perseverance and other human qualities.

Student life is such a life when one is taught and is prepared for the future. This is why it is the most important time for a student. It is called the seed time of life. In this life a student should try to gather as much knowledge as he can and cultivate all good human qualities. "We are students, we are power"-said our rebel poet Kazi Nazrul Islam. In fact, todays student community can bring a golden future if they are equipped well with their skill, knowledge and experience.
